General Information

The Washington Lighting and Interiors website is operated and owned by AJB Environmental Ltd (referred to as "Washington Lighting and Interiors/we/us/our") and as a user of this website (referred to as "you/your") you fully agree with these Terms and Conditions even if you do not register with us. If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, please do not use this website.

The dimensions displayed on our website are approximate but we do try our best to make sure they are as accurate as possible.

The product descriptions shown on our website are correct to the best of our knowledge, however if you find that there is a mistake in the description we would be grateful if you inform us of this error so we can amend it with immediate effect.

The product images displayed on our website are to our understanding a fair reflection of the physical products. However, we cannot guarantee that the appearance and colours of the products shown is an exact replica to the appearance and colours of the product itself.

The category images contained on our website are for display purposes only and we do not necessarily sell the products that feature within them.

If you are not the end-user you confirm that you have authority to bind any person or company on behalf of whom you are using our website.

Not all products that we sell in our store are available to purchase online and this is clearly stated in the products description. Not all products we advertise online are available to purchase online and must be purchased from our stores as we would be unable to guarantee that the item(s) purchased would arrive in a satisfactory condition. However, we are able to arrange special delivery if required please contact us.

Stock on our website is not our physical stock, rather the stock of the supplier. Although we stock most items we may have to arrange delivery usually within the next 24 hours.  


We reserve the right to adjust prices, offers and specifications of goods before you order.

As part of our service, we agree to provide you with information and other service that we may decide to offer, subject to the terms of this agreement. Upon notice published through the service, we may modify this agreement at any time. You agree and continue to agree to use our service in a manner consistent with all applicable laws and regulations and in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the policies and guidelines outlined below. Please note that you will be referred to as 'customer' in this agreement.
By using the service, you agree that you will not attempt to undermine the integrity of this web site.

We are completely dedicated to customer satisfaction, and most of our new customers are recommended to us by existing customers.  To maintain and develop our customer base we understand we have to provide an exceptional level of customer service and support for our products, and we believe we do.

Login and Registration

When you register with us you will be required to create an account password, which should be unique to you in order to keep your personal information safe. You should not share your password with any other person or with multiple networks and it must be kept safe at all times.
If you believe that any of your user details have been compromised and/or are being accessed by a third party, please contact us immediately.

All personal details you provide during your registration must be accurate, true and current and you must notify us of any changes.

You confirm that you are not impersonating any other person or entity or using a false name or a name that you are not authorised to use. 

You are not allowed to use this web site to make any false or fraudulent orders.

We are entitled to provide the Police and/or any other regulatory or government authority who is investigating suspected illegal activities with your Personal Information and User Information, upon request.

Order Process

When you receive an Order Confirmation email, this means that your order has been placed and is waiting to be reviewed and accepted. 

We will contact you by phone or email if we are unable to accept your order for any reason or the goods you ordered are out of stock. If the goods ordered are due back in stock within a reasonable time then we will give you the option of either waiting until the goods are back in stock or offering you a similar alternative or cancelling your order.

If you order more than one item and one of those items is out of stock we will contact you and give you the option of delivering the items available and waiting for that particular item to come back in stock and then delivering the outstanding item, or dispatching your full order when all items are available or to cancel the specific item that is out of stock or to cancel your entire order.

You have the opportunity to check and correct any input errors up to the point before the order is placed in check out. If you have made an error after placing your order with us please call or email our customer support team as soon as possible to make the necessary amendments to your order. 
When you receive a dispatch email, this means that your order has been accepted that the money has been to us paid from your account and your order has been booked with the appropriate courier and will be on its way to you in due course. At this point there is now a contract of sale between us.

The ownership and title of goods and therefore the risk of loss and damage, passes on to you once delivery is made provided the goods are paid for.

By placing an order with us on washingtonlighting.co.uk does not create a contract of sale between us and that contract between us starts only when we take payment and dispatch your order. However we reserve the right to cancel your order in which case a full refund will be issued if we have taken payment.

We reserve the right to adjust prices, offers and specifications of goods before your order has been processed but we will inform you and ask you to confirm your agreement to these changes prior to dispatch.

Delivery information

For accurate pricing, our current delivery costs detailed below will be calculated and displayed automatically when you select the appropriate country and post code during the check out procedure.

We endeavor to dispatch all orders received within 3-5 working days, however in some circumstances, including medium and large items, it can take up to 7-14 working days to be dispatched. We will contact you in the event of any unexpected or additional delays and always keep you informed.

Delivery of most items require a signature, the signature of the person accepting delivery at the given delivery address will be proof that you or the person at the alternative address has received the delivery.

Please note that if your order is made up of a combination of items, deliveries may be made separately. We deliver to most postal areas in the UK, but we're sorry that some geographical locations and courier availability can at time restrict our service.

We do not deliver to addresses that we believe are not secure such as communal or PO Box addresses.

Prices for large items and quantity orders delivered to UK and Off UK areas that require to be shipped by pallet or in multible boxes then a special delivery service would usually be required and your final price could increase due to additional delivery charges. Please contact us for a quotation.

Delivery Address

It is possible to have items sent to an address that is different to your billing address but for security reasons this can only be a none residential business address when placing an order online or by telephone. Please contact us for more information on this matter.

How We Deliver

We may use our own vehicles or a national courier such as Royal Mail, Parcel Force, Interlink or UPS to deliver your order depending on the weight and size of the item(s) you have ordered. Our manufacturing partners also deliver goods direct to you on our behalf using national couriers.  Items that are delivered on our behalf by a national courier service need to be signed for and if no one is available to sign for the items then a notification card will be left by our couriers at your stated delivery address. To reclaim your item(s) contact the courier to either organize for you to collect the item or to arrange a suitable day for redelivery.

Some supplier may have an additional delivery charge, this may be because the product is larger, more fragile or heavier in weight. We will contact you shortly after your order is placed.

Incomplete Orders

In some circumstances the items you order will be delivered separately due to items being stocked in different locations or items being out of stock. If you are unsure of dispatch or you have waited longer than expected for your other item(s) to arrive then please contact us on 0800 0133363 or [email protected] 

International Delivery

We can and do ship internationally to European and Scandinavian Countries and to Worldwide Countries who have 240v electrical supplies, please call us on 0044 191 4174006 or email us with your requirements for a quotation as delivery prices are calculated by country destination and volumetric weight.

Cancellations

We recommend that you keep your receipt or order number in a safe place, as you will need it as proof of purchase in the event of any after-sales queries. We will of course have computer records of your order but in the event of a computer failure or disposal of records, your receipt will be your proof of purchase. 

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulation, you have a right to cancel your order for item(s) purchased on this website before the agreed dispatch date. 

This does not apply to special orders or bespoke items that have been made or cannot be cancelled whilst in production. We will endeavor to accept all special or bespoke cancellation requests, but we cannot guarantee this. 

To cancel, just contact us as soon as possible prior to dispatch and within 7 working days of delivery of your item(s), quoting your order number. If in the unfortunate event that your order has been dispatched prior to your cancellation request, we reserve the right to charge you handling and/or return fees and/or refuse to accept them back as per our returns and refund policy. 

You may cancel your order for services in the same way, within 7 working days of the date of purchase, unless the services begin sooner. If you are missing any parts for your fitting please contact us as soon as you take delivery and we will do our best to help, we are not responsible for any delays or electrician fees

Returns and Refunds

Money Back Guarantee

Products purchased online and in store have a 14 day money back guarantee from the date of purchase, excluding special orders and clearance lines. We see it that 14 days is an acceptable time for you to decide that you are happy with your purchase, therefore it will be recognised that you have accepted the goods after our 14 day money back guarantee. After 14 days we go that bit further and give you 46 days to return any unused and unwanted goods. See 60 Day Return Period below.

Returns Authorisation

If you would like to return your order please email us with a brief explanation of the reason for return and we will provide you with our returns authorisation number. The returns authorisation number must be clearly attached to the outer box only which will enable us to deal with your return and refund in a timely and professional manner.

Where returns have been completed without prior notification and authorisation from Customer Support, or the item is untraceable, sorry but refunds cannot be provided. In the case of untraceable items, the burden of proof is that of the consumer to prove that an item has been returned safely to us. If faulty returns are made at your own cost and without prior notification and authorisation from Customer Support, sorry but any return costs will be non-reimbursable.

60 Days Return Period

We will always consider accepting for return any unused and unwanted items up to maximum of 60 days after the date of purchase by way of an exchange, shop gift vouchers or e-credit only. Conditions apply, please email or call us and we will be happy to discuss this with you.

Unsuitable and Unwanted Goods

All goods must be returned in a resaleable condition. This means that all goods must have been handled with reasonable care and must not have been installed or modified in any way. They must be returned in their original manufacturers packaging as supplied, which must not have been defaced, be intact and sealed as you received them and be complete with bulbs (if supplied), instructions and all other parts. If you require more information please email or call us and we will be happy to discuss this with you.

Returning Your Order 

Please be aware under consumer contract regulations you are responsible for the safe handling of all goods for return and that we are not responsible for the cost of returning unsuitable goods back to us. 

Remembering the item(s) belong to you and should you want a refund or exchange, it is essential that all goods be returned as recieved and that all parts be carefully packed in the manufactures original box and sealed with clear sticky tape only. Please do not use any other type of tape. If you don’t have clear tape then fold over and close the box lid leaving it open slightly.

***PLEASE RESEAL THE BOX WITH CLEAR STICKY TAPE ONLY***

The sealed or slightly open box(s) must then be place in the outer oversized cardboard box that you received your item(s) in, or an oversized strong box similar to the outer box you received them in. Then using good packing materials wrap and pack the boxed goods well to protect the item(s) against any possible damage during the return journey back to us. 

We can arrange for our couriers to collect your unwanted/unsuitable goods which is a chargeable service and will be deducted from your refund. Our usual return parcel price is £13.95 and includes insurance. As courier prices can and do change, we will confirm the return parcel price in our returns confirmation email should you wish to opt for it. The goods must be still be well packed as described above.

Where returns have been completed without prior notification and authorisation from Customer Support or the item is untraceable, refunds cannot be provided. The burden of proof is that of the consumer to prove that an item has been returned and to ensure it is returned safely. If returns are made at your own cost and without prior notification and authorisation from Customer Support, any return costs will be non-reimbursable.

Refunds

If a refund is required due to a product being returned to us, we will issue your refund as soon as confirmed with customer support. Refund confirmation from customer support is usually given within 2/3 days after receiving and inspecting the item(s) at our warehouse, however please allow up to 14 days for this.

All confirmed authorised refunds will be processed immediately and refunded back to your credit or debit card or bank account and we will advise you of your refund by email.

Broken or Faulty Items

Broken Items

We take great care in checking and packing your order for safe arrival, unfortunately sometimes breakages can occur particularly with fragile goods. The last thing we want is for you to feel disappointed when it comes to you installing item(s), therefore we always ask you to “check it as soon as you receive it”. Please check your goods carefully upon arrival and particularly prior to making arrangements to have them installed. Faulty Items

If the goods are to be returned due to a fault (see warranty) then we will make arrangements to collect the goods from you which must be packed in a safe and reasonable manner and to the best of your ability as described above in Returning your Order.

Where returns have been completed without prior notification and authorisation from Customer Support or the item is untraceable, refunds cannot be provided. The burden of proof is that of the consumer to prove that an item has been returned and to ensure it is returned safely. If returns are made at your own cost and without prior notification and authorisation from Customer Support, any return costs will be non-reimbursable.

Product Concerns and Faults

If a product develops a problem that you are concerned about after you have accepted it then please email our Customer Support Team who will deal with the matter in hand for you. In order for us deal with any of your concerns we will require your order number as proof of purchase and we may ask you return the product to us or send us photographs of your concerns.

Product Warranties and Guarantees

Prior to agreeing to repair or replace any product under warranty, the company reserves the right to inspect any defective, faulty or damaged parts and that you agree so provide us with photographic evidence to help us deal with your concerns.  All products found with genuine manufacturing defects within the stated warranty period are covered to be repaired or replaced and at our cost.  You may be required to arrange the safe return of certain defective items to us at your expense.  All warranty agreed repaired or replacement products will be delivered to you at our expense and we will reimburse any return postal costs you may have paid.  We may ask you to dispose of any damaged or defective goods that are not financially viable for us to collect.

1 Year Warranty 

This relates to all interior and exterior products that are supplied with a manufactures minimum 1 year warranty as stated in the product information.  This means that in normal and fair service, without accidental damage, incorrect or inappropriate installation or location, products sold by us and our partner manufactures should not suffer any manufacturing defects within a minimum period of 1 year from date of purchase.  This warranty also relates to the corrosion of paintwork on cast aluminium or steel fittings, but excludes products installed at locations within 5 miles of the coastline or known acidic areas, and products that have been over painted or cleaned with an aggressive cleaner.  All genuine defects discovered are covered under this manufactures 1 year warranty and will be repaired or replaced prior to our approval and at our cost.  

Extended 2 Year Warranty

We go beyond our manufacturers standard 1 year warranty and provide you with an additional 1 year warranty on all lighting fittings you buy from us.  This additional 1 year warranty comes FREE and is added by us.  We do this as testament to the quality interior light fittings we supply which gives you added value and piece of mind with your purchase. This extended warranty excludes Christmas, novelty and Children`s lighting.  Our extended warranty covers for electrical faults only, excludes bulbs and is for return and repair only, or full replacement where necessary. Our warranty provides cover against mechanical breakdown or manufacturing defect through normal use and does not include accidental damage, incorrect or inappropriate electrical installation or location. This means that if your item develops a manufacturing or electrical defect during the extended guarantee period, we'll arrange for it to be repaired if possible, or send you replacement parts where possible. This warranty also relates to the corrosion of paintwork on cast aluminium or steel fittings, but excludes products installed at locations within 5 miles of the coastline or known acidic areas, and products that have been over painted or cleaned with an aggressive cleaner.  All genuine defects discovered are covered under this extended 1 year warranty and will be repaired or replaced prior to our approval and at our cost. You will be required to arrange safe return of all defective items to us at your expense.  All products with genuine manufacturing defects will be repaired and delivery back to you at our cost and we will reimburse your return postal costs you paid.

3, 5 and 10 Year Warranties

Many of our quality outdoor products have anti-corrosion guarantees as stated in the product information. This means that in normal and fair service, without accidental damage, incorrect or inappropriate installation or location, any product sold by us and our partner manufacture should not corrode within the stated period from date of purchase. This warranty relates to the corrosion of paintwork on cast aluminium or steel fittings, and excludes locations within 5 miles of the coastline or known acidic areas and products that have been overpainted or cleaned with an aggressive cleaner. This also applies to some products with a 15 year warrenty.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

Many of our quality outdoor products have anti-corrosion guarantees as stated in the product information. This means that in normal and fair service, without accidental damage, incorrect or inappropriate installation or location, any product sold by us and our partner manufacture should not corrode within the stated period from date of purchase. This warranty relates to certain ranges or models which are produced of quality materials that have exceptionally long life expectations, such as solid brass lanterns. These products may age over time but will not deteriorate to an extent where they will no longer function for the intended purpose. The “Limited” elements relate to small component parts such as rubber seals, steel screws, and lamp holders etc. which are repairable but are not covered by the lifetime warranty.

15, 20 and 25 Year Warranties

Many of our quality outdoor products have anti-corrosion guarantees as stated in the product information. This means that in normal and fair service, without accidental damage, incorrect or inappropriate installation or location, any product sold by us and our partner manufacture should not corrode within the stated period from date of purchase. These products are designed to be placed in the toughest of conditions, some including right by the coastline without any exclusions. These warranties cover protection of the finish against corrosion or UV degradation on our coastal collection ranges.

Norlys models have a 15 year warranty (excludes locations within 5 miles of the coast). From purchase to within 15 years of normal use, the fittings will not deteriorate to any extent where they experience any structural failure. There may be signs of aging, corrosion or paint fading - most notably, copper fittings are untreated and will age naturally to acquire a brown patina - but the integrity of the construction of these fittings means they will not deteriorate to any extent where they are rendered unusable within a lifetime of 15 years.

LED Arrays and PIR Sensor Warranties

There are a number of products incorporating Led array modules and / or PIR sensors. Whilst various products themselves have varying anti corrosion warranties, these electronic parts are covered by the manufactures stated 1 or 2 year warranties against failure. After these periods they may still be repairable and serviceable.

All our warranties and guarantees do not cover out of pocket expenses or any consequential costs. However, with your customer loyalty in mind we will always be transparent and endeavor to satisfy your request and assist you to the best of our ability. 

Out of Warranty

If the product develops a fault for whatever reason and is out of the manufacturers warranty period then we can possibly arrange to send chargeable replacement parts or possibly have the item(s) repaired for you at a charge. We are not obliged to offer free replacements or refunds for out of warranty items.  However, with your consumer rights and customer loyalty in mind we will always be transparent and endeavour to satisfy your request and assist you to the best of our ability. If you have any other concerns or queries about the product(s) you have ordered from us then please contact our Customer Service Team who will endeavour to assist you with the matter.

Missing, Damaged or Incomplete Orders

If your order arrives damaged or incomplete please contact us immediately and we will deal with it accordingly.
If you do not receive your order within 3/5 working days of receiving a 'Dispatch Confirmation' email you must contact us where we will then open an investigation with the appropriate courier.

Product Recalls

It is possible that products can be recalled by the manufactures should they be concerned over the quality and safety of their products. 

In the unlikely event there should be any product recall of any items that you have purchased, we will email you direct to advise you on what action you should take.

Installing and Assembling

In order to issuer correct installation and/or assembly of your item(s), we strongly recommend that all products be installed and assembled by a qualified and approved trade person.
All products must be earthed (where necessary) and the mains supply must be isolated prior to installation. Please note that an incorrect installation can void your warranty (see warranty).

Installation accessories such as screws, raw plugs etc. are not always supplied with products.

We do not accept liability for any damages, personal or any other such as electrocution or actual bodily damage or property damage due to improper installation or assembly by qualified or non-qualified persons.

We are not obliged to pay for any third party installation and assembly fees incurred before or after initial installation or assembly and at any time unless paid for and installed and assembled by us directly. However, with your customer loyalty and consumer rights in mind we will always be transparent and endeavor to satisfy your request and assist you to the best of our ability.

Payment and Prices

For your choice and peace of mind of security you can choose to purchase goods online from us using Sage Payment Services, Amazon Payment Services or PayPal Payment Services.

If you would prefer, you can place orders and pay for your purchase over the telephone by calling our sales department on 0800 0133363.

We accept payment by MasterCard and Visa credit or debit cards and payments are processed using Global Payment Services via HSBC Bank. Our credit and debit card payment services are PCI approved by Security Metrics as required by current Security and Banking Legislation. Please contact us if you require more information.
Payment is officially taken for standard lines after your order has been security checked prior to dispatch. 

Payment is officially taken for special, bespoke or made to order items on the day we confirm your order by email and on understanding that you have read and agree to our returns policy for such orders as cancellation cannot be accepted once production has started. 
Make sure that the expiry date on the card you use to make payment is after the anticipated dispatch date. If the expiry date on your card falls within the anticipated dispatch time then we will be unable to take the required funds.

By placing an order through our website you confirm that the credit/debit card or PayPal Account being used for payment is yours. All orders are subject to payment security checks with PayPal or your card issuer. Failure to pass these checks will result in us cancelling your order and we are not obliged to inform you of the reason for the failure. If you encounter any problems please contact us and we will be happy to help. We will inform you that your order has been cancelled if you do not wish to proceed.

Our website uses third party payment authentication services and we do not hold or store any of your payment details on our servers. Payment procedures called 3-D Secure is used by our payment providers to combat fraudulent online transactions. It allows the card issuer to fully authenticate online transactions by using Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure Code (depending on the type of card being used), which requests the user to enter the correct password to authorize the payment from their card.

If you by-pass the Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure Code your order will be cancelled as your payment must be 3-D secured in order to pass payment security checks.

You will be charged the correct current price for buying goods from our website on the date you place your order. All prices displayed on our website are inclusive of the current rate of VAT (Tax) at 20%.

Prices

We do our very best to ensure that prices displayed are shown correctly but occasionally an error may occur. If this should happen, we will correct that price and ask you to confirm whether you still wish to purchase the goods at the correct price. If we are unable to contact you we will treat the order as cancelled.

It may be that prices of items sold online differ from those sold in store but this will be due to special promotions or online discounts.

Prices that are reduced for sales and promotional reasons are only valid for the period specified.

Your Statutory Rights

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have a right to cancel your order for any none “special orders” or “made to order” item(s) purchased on this website. 
If you wish to cancel your order, please call our cancellations department on 0191 4177800 (Monday to Saturday 9am - 5pm Sunday 11am - 4pm) or email us at [email protected] within 14 days after the day of delivery of your item(s), quoting your order number. You must take reasonable care of the item(s) and they must be returned in resalable condition (see the above returns statement).
Your statutory rights are not affected by any of our policies.

Liability and Indemnity

The products which washingtonlighting.co.uk site sells are intended for domestic and light commercial business purposes only and we are not liable for the fitness of goods used for extensive commercial business purposes, nor are we liable in any circumstances for the cost or any losses arising from the use of the item in the event of a claim for breach of warranty or condition.

In the event that we are held responsible for any loss or damage in regards to a product, our aggregate liability shall be limited to a sum equal to the amount paid by you for that product. 

We try our utmost to keep your details secure and our web site has all the latest security measure in place for your peace of mind and we do not hold your personnel payment details on file but unless we are found negligent, we cannot be responsible for any unauthorized access to any details provided by you.

We are not liable for any delay or failure to deliver or perform any obligation that is specified in these terms and conditions when the reason for delay or failure is due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

You are not allowed to assign or sub-contract any of your rights or obligations under these terms and conditions.

Nothing in these terms and conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability which may not be limited or excluded under appropriate law.

We try to keep the website content accurate, up to date and error free but cannot guarantee that errors will be corrected or that the server on which the site is hosted is free of bugs or viruses. We will not be held responsible for any material or content that is lost when uploading or transmitting through our website.

We try to ensure that the website is available at all times, however you may occasionally be restricted access to washingtonlighting.co.uk to allow for repairs, maintenance or for the introduction of new facilities or services but we will try our best to get the website up and running as soon as we can.

We are not responsible for other websites or services that are linked to washingtonlighting.co.uk and if you choose to access a website or service through washingtonlighting.co.uk it is your responsibility to read and act in accordance with their Terms and Conditions.
